RAC Tanauan raises P46K for Piso Para sa Libro initiative

To support the students’ needs through providing learning tools in the new normal, the Rotaract Club of Tanauan, District 3820, spearheaded by the Project Chair Bryan Edward S. Ramilo, together with his committee,  donated school supplies and hygiene kits to selected public schools in Tanauan City and Talisay, October 3. 

The project “Piso Para sa Libro” (PPSL) is a fundraising event of “ISKWELAKBAY” which aims to support financially strapped parents to provide the basic needs for their child’s schooling, especially in this challenging time. This project was administered and made possible through the donations of ‘PISO’ in coin banks and bamboo tubes distributed around Tanauan: Wrap and Carry, Lilyrose School, Infinitea Tanauan, and Sari-sari Stores.

In a span of three months, the team was able to collect Php 46,506.00. All amount was used in donating school kits to public schools, including those which are in the far-flung areas.

GENUINE HAPPINESS. Every pupil deserves to feel prepared with the school materials they need in their respective classes. Through this small act, we can make a difference in their lives.

A total of 600 kits, including: pad papers, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, crayons, ABAKADA booklets, and Math booklets were distributed to the parents and students in 13 public schools in Tanauan City and Talisay. 

Aside from the school supplies, they also donated hygiene kits to the schools as an essential protection in COVID-19 pandemic, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Tanauan.

EXCHANGE OF FLATTERY. One of the teachers in public schools expresses her warm and heartfelt gratitude to Rotaract Club of Tanauan for its initiative to support financially strapped parents in providing the basic needs for their child’s schooling.

The school heads and school coordinators of the respective public schools: Banjo East Elementary School (Sir Froilan Sibal), Banjo West Elementary School (Ma’am Ilyn Carandang), Tapia Elementary (Sir Michael Opeña), Trapiche Elementary School (Ma’am Josephine Ofrin), Ulango Elementary School (Ma’am Gladys Biscocho), Banjo Laurel Elementary School (Ma’am Christine Joy Mendoza), South Central School (Ma’am Rowena Batuhan), Mahabang Buhangin Elementary School (Sir Edwin Castillo), Bagumbayan Elementary School ( Sir Lemeuel Arellano), Ambulong Elementary School (Ma’am Rosalie Martillana), Tanauan School of Fisheries (Ma’am Mariel Umipig Olan),  Aya National High School (Ma’am Belle Biscocho), and Quiling Elementary School (Sir Romeo Landicho) received the said donations.

Ma’am Mendoza of BLES said that they didn’t expect that all donations were made possible through the initiatives and efforts of the people who are still students and have no work. 

SOLIDARITY AMONG COMPEERS. Rotaract members, with shared visions, spends time and effort to cater the needs of the learners to face the challenge of New Normal.

The Co-chair, Ivan Dimco Magpantay, Change Maker President, Zandro M. Panganiban, Rotaract Advisor, Ryan Tercero, and other members: Patricia Anne Unico Shaira Vicente Rudy Gonzales Edward Exonde Jay Malvin Madriñan Lhaye Jan Athena Mercado Apple Nathalie Marfa also joined the project.

Sobrang ganda ng naging karanasan ko sa proyektong ito, mula sa planong isinulat lamang sa isang piraso ng papel, hanggang sa pagkapagod na kumalap ng mga donasyon online o solicitation man, sa pamimili ng mga ipamimigay na materyales at pagrerepack ng lahat ng pinamili.” Mr. Ramilo added.

The RAC Tanauan is proud in the successful outcome of the ISKWELAKBAY project. They hope that the students will be inspired and overcome the challenge of the new normal.

Noong inaabot na namin siya sa mga batang matutulungan ng proyektong iyon, nawala lahat ng pagod at puyat, bagkus ay napalitan ito ng tuwa at galak, dahil alam namin na ang binubuo namin ay hindi lamang isang tulong kun’di isang pangarap,” Mr. Ramilo concluded.
