In line with Sustainable Development Goal 2, which strives to achieve “Zero Hunger”, the Rotaract Club of Sagay-Sinigayan embarked on an inspiring initiative to address the issue of hunger among students. Led by their dedicated Community Service Director, Rtr. Jim Ian Justien O. Arisgado, and with the wholehearted support of President Mariella C. Demanalata and club members, the program aimed to create a positive impact on the lives of the students at Lopez Jaena Elementary School.
The program organized by the Rotaract Club of Sagay-Sinigayan provided an enjoyable experience for the students at Lopez Jaena Elementary School last July 6, 2023. Exciting games, lively dance contests featuring the club’s mascot, Baby Dino-Hope, and delicious food options were offered. The students had a wonderful time, relishing the opportunity to engage in activities that fostered camaraderie and enjoyment while addressing the serious issue of hunger that plagues many communities.
Recognizing that hunger significantly affects a student’s ability to learn and thrive, the Rotaract Club of Sagay-Sinigayan has taken a proactive approach to tackle this issue at its root. Their program focuses on providing nutritious meals to students who come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. By ensuring these children have access to regular, healthy meals, the club aims to promote their overall well-being and academic performance. The initiative kicked off with a comprehensive assessment of the students’ nutritional needs and food preferences.
To ensure the success and sustainability of the program, the Rotaract Club of Sagay-Sinigayan has secured partnerships with local businesses and organizations. These collaborations have enabled the club to access resources such as funding, food supplies, and volunteer support. The community has responded with enthusiasm, with numerous individuals and businesses stepping forward to contribute their time, skills, and resources to the cause.
The success of the program would not be possible without the unwavering support of various individuals and groups. The Rotaract Club of Sagay-Sinigayan expresses its deepest gratitude to Lopez Jaena Elementary School, particularly Principal I, Sir Renante Sanchez, the dedicated teachers, staff, and the enthusiastic students and parents. The club also extends its appreciation to the Tau Gamma Phi members who provided assistance, the talented cook, Pastor Roger Arisgado, and, most importantly, the generous sponsors who made this initiative a reality.
Beyond the immediate benefits, the initiative has instilled a sense of hope and empowerment within the community. By addressing the issue of hunger among students, the Rotaract Club of Sagay-Sinigayan has created a platform for collaboration and compassion.
As the Rotaract Club of Sagay-Sinigayan continues to expand its initiative, the club’s members remain committed to their mission of achieving zero hunger among students. Through their dedication and community-driven approach, they are making significant strides toward a future where no child has to endure the debilitating effects of hunger. This successful endeavor has inspired the club to continue their efforts, seeking new avenues to combat hunger and promote holistic development in their community.
In a world where hunger remains a pressing issue, the Rotaract Club of Sagay-Sinigayan’s efforts stand as a shining example of what can be achieved when passionate individuals come together for a common cause. Their inspiring initiative reminds us that even small actions can create a lasting impact, bringing us one step closer to a world without hunger.
