My Rotaractor to Rotarian Journey

By Vince Gutierrez | Posted on April 27, 2023

It all started in Rotary Year 2008-2009, when I was elected as the President of the Rotaract Club of Arellano University. I was full of excitement and enthusiasm, eager to make a positive impact in my community. It was my first leadership role, and I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but I was determined to succeed.

As the President of the Rotaract Club of Arellano University, our club organized various service projects, including medical missions, feeding programs, and educational seminars. We worked closely with our fellow Rotaractors and mentors from the Rotary Club of Makati Dasmariñas, who provided us with guidance and support every step of the way.

Through their mentorship, I learned the importance of service above self and the value of Rotary’s four-way test. I was inspired by the work of the Rotary Club of Makati Dasmariñas, and I knew that one day, I wanted to become a member.

The Most Outstanding Rotaractor Award given by our Sponsoring Club was awarded to me just 5 months from the establishment of our Rotaract Club, the Rotaract Club of Changebringers.

After my term as President of the Rotaract Club of Arellano University ended, I remained active in the club and continued to serve our community. I also pursued my studies and started a successful career, but Rotary was always at the back of my mind.

In Rotary Year 2021-2022, I was finally ready to take the next step and become a member of the Rotary Club of Makati Dasmariñas. However, I wanted to do more than just become a member – I wanted to lead a new generation of Rotaractors and inspire them to make a difference.

With the help of my fellow Rotaractors and mentors and through the Elevate Rotaract initiative, our advisor, Nancy Sandevi and I founded the Rotaract Club of Changebringers. I became its Charter President and worked tirelessly to establish it as a strong and active club.

As the Charter President of the Rotaract Club of Changebringers, we organized various service projects, including disaster relief operations, environmental campaigns, and youth development programs. We also helped our fellow Rotaractors develop their leadership skills and become better community servants.

With so much gratitude, in behalf of our Club, the Rotaract Club of Changebringers, I humbly received the 5-Star Outstanding Club Award for RY 2021-22. We were given this recognition for being able to achieve the Gold Distinction to all the Areas of Service during our District Conference and Awards Night in Tanay, Rizal

Our hard work paid off, and the Rotaract Club of Changebringers quickly gained recognition for its dedication to service and excellence in leadership. I was proud of what our team had accomplished, but I knew that there was still more work to be done.

In Rotary Year 2022-2023, I continued my term as President of the Rotaract Club of Changebringers. I continued to lead the club with the same passion and commitment that I had shown in the previous year.

Under my leadership, the Rotaract Club of Changebringers expanded its reach and impact. We organized joint service projects with other Rotaract clubs and worked closely with our mother club, the Rotary Club of Makati Dasmariñas, to advance Rotary’s goals.

My dedication and service did not go unnoticed, and I was elected as one of the Board of Directors of the Rotary Club of Makati Dasmariñas. It was a great honor for me, and I knew that it was a testament to the hard work and dedication that you had put into Rotary over the years.

As the Incoming Secretary of the Rotary Club of Makati Dasmariñas, I have been entrusted with a critical role in shaping the direction of the club and creating hope in the world.

Creating hope in the world is not an easy task, but it is a noble and worthwhile one. It requires dedication, hard work, and a willingness to embrace change. As I embark on this journey, I will keep in mind that every action I take, no matter how small, has the potential to make a significant difference.

Finally, I will always remember that creating hope in the world is a long-term endeavor. It requires patience, perseverance, and a willingness to learn and adapt. I will stay committed to our shared mission, and I will not be afraid to take risks and try new things. With hard work and dedication, we can make a positive impact in the world and create a brighter future for all.
