The Dream Year has challenged most with the possibilities that they can share in the community; clubs are ultimately made to commit to their visions.
Now, everyone is ready to hope.
The Rotary Year 2022-2023 is almost to live its remaining strands— significantly a time for preparation in embarking into the New Rotary Year. As a starter, all sails were led to Asia’s Latin City!
On April 14-16, 2023, the Rotary International District 3850 together with the Council of Rotaract and Interact Clubs in Zamboanga City and Pilipinas Rotaract MDIO graced the welcoming of the representatives from the different Districts of the country in Zamboanga City for the 16th District Rotaract Representatives-Elect Training Seminar (DRRETS) under the leadership of the DRRETS Chairman—PDRR O’Neil Nick F. Paira.
The annual District Rotaract Representatives-Elect Training Seminar (DRRETS) convenes high-spirited young Rotaract leaders of the ten Rotary International districts in the Philippines for a pre-term leadership training.
Setting the zest for the day, the pre-DRRETS series immensely showcased the rich culture of the Zamboangueños to the delegates which commenced with an appetizing serve of authentic local Satti for breakfast. Thereafter, members were toured at the iconic Zamboanga City Hall and at the historical Fortaleza de la Virgen del Pilar (Fort Pilar) which paved way for the young leaders to appreciate more the intricate and appealing history of the city.
The 16th DRRETS was officially opened with an “Un Poquito Español” welcome dinner with the supporting presence of Mayor John M. Dalipe—City Mayor of Zamboanga City. The night was infused with words of motivation and inspiration from DG John Michael Ng, DGE Maria Ester Espina, DRR Kurt Nhajzr Priagula, and PDRR Richard Jeric Chua—esteemed icons of District 3850.
The second day had reinforced a strong image of good leadership and service among the participants through the “Plenario de Lideres.” The session was manned by PDG Edwin To of District 3850 with his talks on the “Rotaract and Rotary Relations” and “Supporting The Rotary Foundation.” Reawakening the current status of all clubs, PDRR Joseph Manuel Franco discussed the “Rotaract Membership Growth and Engagement” and “Planning for Success,” which was relevantly followed by the presentations of the participating districts of their respective reports. The “Noche de Amistad” was captured as a ceremonial dinner that accentuated the commitment of the young Rotaract leaders on their oath taking which was presided by AG Haydee Panganiban.
A Rotaract deed will never be wholesome without a purposive act of service. The third day of the DRRETS culminated with a Kids Fun Day and a community outreach program at the Silsilah Elementary School which is solely located at the pink sands of the infamous Sta. Cruz Island.
The three-day training and seminar of the incoming representatives of the renowned Rotaract clubs had made an impression that the future is filled with dreamers who hold a strong potential in fulfilling the visions of Rotary, and that generations will be more fueled with the language of “Service Above Self”.
