Unlocking the Power of Rotary: A Journey of Self-Discovery, Community Impact, and Global Connections

Everyone has their own goals and aspirations which may be attained by developing one’s self, building relationships and networks with other people, developing one’s own leadership skills, learning and being exposed to global issues and topics, by simply having fun, and by aspiring to making a difference in one’s own community.

Experiencing Rotary through the eyes of an Imaginative Rotaractor President, definitely gives one a unique perspective. The journey we embarked on gives us a unique opportunity to not only lead our respective clubs to the goals we are aspiring to achieve but to have the chance to develop our member’s skill which could be through the forms of serving in different communities internally, organizing activities and projects or through personal development trainings, all in line with the principles of Rotary.

The responsibility of being able to customize the activities for the club member’s want and need is no easy feat, but then it is also one of the best ways in establishing a stronger relationship and connection with our members and the community. The shared interest of our Rotaract members in pursuing the principles of Rotary, gave us an opportunity to partner with other Rotaractor clubs which then birthed friendships and connections with other clubs.

Relationships with the other clubs, gave us more exposure to different issues that they are focusing on both at a local and global scale. This not only helps develop one own understanding of what is happening around us but as well as the opportunity to think of solutions to address that problem by implementing activities and projects. This is where one can make the most impact and effectively making a difference in the community whilst being able to directly see the benefits first hand. Any involvements that can directly create a positive impact in our local community not only has a positive outcome on the beneficiaries but to us as well.

The advocacy of Rotary and Rotaract may be too good to be true. But undoubtedly, I can attest that I personally have experienced all of these, whilst being in the middle of my presidential term. From being one of the few to have attended majority of my fellow Imaginative President’s induction from the Cebu Council of District 3860. It is not only an undoubtedly fun and joyous experience but also one that anyone can be a part of!
