Last November 19, 2022, I and Dir. Loraine Mariano had the privilege of representing our club, the Rotaract Club of Changebringers in the MVV Health Caravan in Cebu City, headed by MIP Michael Abcede of the Rotary Club of Makati Dasmariñas and AG Mary Christine Chua of the Rotary Club of Banilad Metro, in partnership with Rotary District 3830 and 3860 Rotary Clubs, headed by DG Midred Vitangcol and DG Lilu Alino. It was an incredible experience to be part of this life-changing event and to witness the incredible work being done by the Rotary Clubs and its partners.

The MVV Health Caravan was held in Kasambagan, Cebu City, and provided free medical and surgical services to the community. The event was a huge success, with a total of 897 beneficiaries availing of the services we offered. These included medical consultations, laboratory exams, dental services, surgical procedures, and medication.

The beneficiaries of the MVV Health Caravan came from different backgrounds and ages. We saw children, adults, and elderly people who were in need of medical attention but couldn’t afford it. Many of them had been suffering from medical conditions for a long time but had been unable to get the treatment they needed due to financial constraints. For them, the MVV Health Caravan was a lifeline, providing them with the opportunity to receive medical care and treatment at no cost.

The medical team that participated in the event was composed of dedicated and skilled medical professionals who worked tirelessly to provide the best possible care to the beneficiaries. They were assisted by a team of volunteers who helped with the logistics, registration, and other aspects of the event. The team was well-organized and efficient, ensuring that each beneficiary received the attention and care they needed.

One of the most memorable moments of the event was when an elderly came with her old and worn out eyeglasses. She said that it has been years since she had the chance to have her eyes checked and have her eyeglasses changed base on measured visual acuity grade.

Another beneficiary that left a deep impression on me was a young man who had been suffering from a severe dental condition. He had been unable to afford the treatment he needed and had been living with the pain for years. When he came to us, we saw that his condition was severe and required immediate attention. We provided him with the dental care he needed, and he left the event with a smile on his face, relieved of the pain he had been experiencing for so long.

We’re thrilled to be with our fellow Rotaractors from Cebu! Chair Samantha De Vera, Rotary Satellite Club of Makati Dasmariñas Erudite, Pres. Troy Go of Rotaract Club of Banilad Metro, ISD Zee Villanueva of Rotaract Club of Cebu North-UP Cebu, MVP Vince Gutierrez and Dir. Rhaine Mariano of Rotaract Club of Changebringers.

The MVV Health Caravan was an incredible experience that demonstrated the power of community and collaboration. The event was made possible by the Rotary Clubs and its partners, who worked together to bring medical care and treatment to those who needed it most. It was heartwarming to see the Rotary Club’s commitment to service and their dedication to improving the lives of others.
