What Happens If You Donate Blood?

The Rotaract Club of the University of the East – Caloocan conducted a bloodletting project in partnership with UE Alpha Sigma, Dugong Alay Dugtong Buhay, Association of Student Planners, Ang Sandigan, National Teachers College, UE Engineering Student Council, UE College of Arts and Sciences Student Council, UE Manila – University Student Council, Youth Movement Initiative, Youth Reform Movement PH, UE Central Student Council, and Tondo Medical Center.

The bloodletting project kicked off at the Meaco Royal Hotel Tayuman, Manila. Covid-19 protocols were highly observed in the area. In order to donate blood, certain requirements must be met. An individual who is eligible to give blood must be between the ages of 17 and 60. They must be over 50 kg and in good health. There were 32 blood donors, our modern heroes who are brave and strong that inspire and save lives.

Bloodletting projects can truly save lives and benefit others. It is indeed an epitome of humanity that brings people together regardless of belief, religion, and culture. Knowing that they have given people the opportunity to live, their hearts are overwhelmed with joy and assurance.

On the same day, UE Alpha Sigma gives recognition to their partner organizations. The photo was taken after the event. At the end of the day, they fulfill their purpose as an organization– the humanitarian service for the betterment of the community.

The Philippines is not only battling with the pandemic, but also by a shortage of blood in blood banks around the country. The event’s purpose is to manage the demand of blood patients. The simple gesture that saves a lot of lives. The pandemic is not a hindrance to continuing the noble act of helping people in need. These organizations are ready to serve to change lives.
