Cheers to RACtober

Being in the tenth month of the year, October may seem like a typical month for other people. However, for Rotaractors all around the world, specifically from the Rotaract Club of Balintawak, the service must go on. Our advocacies and commitments are never-ending; thus, our work is continuous. For this month, the club conducted three club projects, making this month another productive month for the club.

The first week of the month has been a busy week for the club as we prepare to host the third session of the School of Rotaract. After those busy nights, we finally went down to the d-day of the event last October 10, 2021. With the strengthened efforts of Rotaract District 3780, Rotaract Club of Balintawak, and Event Chair and Secretary Jedidiah Tupaz, it’s safe to say that its flagship project on professional development was conducted successfully.

The third session gathered 70 registered participants, and almost 50 of them made it to the actual event. Jayvee P. Macalinao, Rpm, the event’s beloved speaker, shared his comprehensive knowledge about the session’s topic: project implementation. He also prepared activities for the participants, and it’s a pleasant sight to see Rotaractors being as participative as ever.

Furthermore, October has been known as the month for the Rotary’s initiative to End Polio. Thus, every year, Rotaractors, Rotarians, Interactors, and the family of Rotary around the globe are encouraged to raise funds, celebrate, and support the movement. This Rotary Year, the Rotaract Clubs from Rotaract District 3780 came together for The RACtoberfest 2021: Cheers to End Polio, an event for fundraising, special performances, engagement activities, and fellowship held last October 23, 2021, Saturday, at 6:00 PM through a hybrid setup; physical on Café 80s, and virtual via ZOOM. The event mustered 34 Rotaractors coming from 14 Rotaract Clubs, raising a total of Php 11,100.00 for End Polio. The hosts for this event are the Rotaract Club of Balingasa, the Rotaract Club of Balintawak, and the Rotaract Club of New Manila.

And lastly, one of the projects the club takes utmost pride in— the Project Maschera. It has been a whole year of donating face masks and face shields to the residents of Barangay Balingasa, Balingasa Elementary School, and Balingasa High School. The club has successfully fulfilled its commitment to #BeatCovidNow yet again, as they donated another batch of face shields and face masks last October 30, 2021.

October marks the fourth month of the Rotary year, and the club continuously fulfills its purpose to serve to change lives to the best of its abilities. It has been another month of service above themselves with the hopes to continue the energy to the remaining months left of the life-changing term.
