Past District Governor Mary Anne Alcordo-Solomon or PDG Meanne is an alumna of St. Theresa’s College Cebu, the school where she began her Rotary journey as Interactor. On her 4th year in high school, she became a Rotary Exchange Student to Oregon, USA sponsored by the Rotary Club of Cebu South.

She assumed various leadership roles in Rotary Club of Cebu Fuente and the district before she was elected as its first lady President in 2001—20 years since the club’s charter.

During her stint as Club President, the Rotary Year theme, “Mankind is our Business,” inspired her to forge outstanding initiatives that defined her club stewardship. For her unqualified success, she was recognized as one of the Four Most Outstanding Eagle Club Presidents of the World besting over 30,000 other Eagle club presidents that year. She was the only lady President and the only Asian Rotarian to receive such distinction and accolade from Rotary International.

She is a Hall of Famer Rotarian of the Year awardee in her club, a multi-awarded district officer and a Major Donor Level One (1). In 2007, she led the District’s Group Exchange Team. The team holds the distinction of being the most outstanding GSE inbound team to District 7600, Virginia, USA.

In 2004, she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Her experience sparked the passion for the breast cancer advocacy with the mantra, “Early Detection Saves Life, Early Detection is the Cure.” She made Early Detection of Breast Cancer one of the 5 major advocacies during her District Governorship of which the district has sustained through the years.

It was during the Atlanta Rotary Convention that District 3860 was presented during the opening of the House of Friendship and at the Closing Ceremony. The video shown during the Closing ceremony showcased the projects of the 98 Rotary Clubs of the District.

Immediately after her District Governorship, she was appointed to International positions:

·  Assistant Regional Public Image Coordinator for Zone 7 (2017-2018)

·  End Polio Now Coordinator for Zone 7 (2018-2020)

She was sent as the RIPR (Rotary International President’s Representative) to Kerela, India in February 2018. She is a proud Rotarian and takes to heart its motto of Service Above Self as she wholeheartedly served as District Governor for RY 2016-2017 with the theme, “Rotary Serving Humanity.”

With her illustrious experience, she shares some sage advice for Rotaractors in the video below:
