School openings are approaching and even during the pandemic, school programs and activities that will benefit the students should push through. The BFP-Lopez, Rotaract Clubs in Lopez, namely, RAC Eastern Tayabas College, RAC PNU SL-LOPEZ, and RAC PUP LOPEZ, PTA, as well as our mother club which is the Rotary Club of Lopez collaborated with each other in supporting the Brigada Eskwela 2021 through the project which was entitled “Atag-Bayanihan para sa Gulayan ng Paaralan”.
Last August 26, 2021, BFP LOPEZ, Rotarians and Rotaractors went to Lopez West Elementary School (Bldg.1) to clean the school’s vegetable garden at 6 o’clock in the morning. We removed all the scattered leaves and branches on the ground, raked the soil, removed the old tires and organized them, cut down the old tree trunk, and cut down the rest house that was destroyed by the past typhoon and replaced it with a new and beautiful one. Despite the gloomy and rainy weather, we continued to do our task that ended at 11 o’clock in the morning.
This activity aims to encourage another clean and green initiative, namely the growing of vegetables on the school grounds. We want to inspire students and parents to participate in this long-term initiative that will result in high-quality vegetables and harvests. Planting is a fun leisure activity and cleaning the environment is a fantastic way to save and show our care. We believe both would create positive effects to all our beneficiaries. Everyone was very pleased with the result of our hard work and left new and unforgettable memories and experiences.
