The recently concluded World Rotaract Week offered a momentous opportunity for the Rotary community to honor its past while actively shaping its future. This annual observance commemorates the chartering of the very first Rotaract club – the Rotaract Club of the University of North Carolina, on March 13, 1968. In the 58 years since that first charter, what began as a pilot program has transformed into a global force for good. For the Philippine districts, this year’s celebration was particularly significant as it showcased the deepening synergy between Rotaractors and Rotarians, who now serve as equal partners in leadership.

The celebration centered on the milestone of World Rotaract Day on March 13th, a date that symbolizes the official inauguration of Rotary in Action. Since the 2019 elevation of Rotaract to a membership type, our role within the organization has shifted from being beneficiaries of mentorship to becoming co-creators of change. This April, as we review the projects and fellowships shared during the anniversary week, it is clear that the distinction between youth and adult service is fading, replaced by a unified commitment to the Rotary brand.

Looking forward, the success of this year’s World Rotaract Week serves as a springboard for our upcoming year-end goals. The initiatives launched last month, ranging from community health programs to environmental advocacy, demonstrate that our impact is not confined to a single week. Instead, it is a continuous testament to the “Unite for Good” that we create when we work together across generations.
