In 1968, the first Rotaract club was formed at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, USA. 54 years later, it has grown into a major organization of over 10,000 clubs around the world. This year, the World Rotaract Week is celebrated to commemorate the success and importance of Rotaract and the amazing works it has done to the community.

Like other clubs around the world, the Cebu Council of Rotaract Clubs headed by DRRE/ADRR Shevee Resolado, organized a week-long celebration honoring all that we have accomplished together. The week started with a Thanksgiving Mass last March 6, 2022 at the Redemptorist Church Cebu followed by a Trivia Night where Rotaractors not just showed off their competitiveness but also their wit, creativity and hype in group chants!

What better way to chill with your drink at late night than Virtual E-numan with fun games and exciting prizes with fellow Rotaractors. Last March 8, 2022, the Rotaract Club of Metro Banilad – CIT U Chapter hosted the event and Rotaractors shared their favorite alcoholic, non-alcoholic, and healthy drinks. 10 winners of Milk Teas sponsored by TeaTas of Cebu were chosen!

“Sa Letrang B, ikaw ang Baby ko! (Letter B, you’re my Baby!)”. The night of March 10, 2022 was full of energy and fun as Rotaractors played BINGO FOR A CAUSE hosted by the Rotaract Club  of Cebu Fuente – University of San Carlos and Rotaract Club of Metro Cebu. Who says only senior citizens can play Bingo? Young people can too, and it’s much more enjoyable than it seems. For only 20 pesos, Rotaractors can win up to 500 pesos and proceeds will be given to the children from Barangay Banilad.

True to its identity as ‘People of Action’ and with more than Php3,000 raised from BINGO FOR A CAUSE, the Cebu Council of Rotaract Clubs conducted a Hand and Dental Hygiene Campaign last March 12, 2022 at Banilad Alliance Church. Rotaractors divided the kids into two groups and taught them the proper way of handwashing and brushing their teeth. It is visible in the eyes of the kids their willingness to learn and even a couple of them volunteered to demonstrate to the group. Distribution of Hygiene Kits and Deworming Tablets followed.

In the afternoon, Rotaractors gathered to play a friendly Bowling Tournament hosted by Rotaract Club of Cebu South at Gaisano Bowling complex. There were two categories: Mens and Womens. The top three scorers then competed for the championship. Rotaractors MC Vincent Dalin of Rotaract Club of Cebu South and Cheska Marie Canubas of Rotaract Club of Cebu Fuente – University of the Visayas bagged champion for Mens and Womens category, respectively. The day ended with big smiles and happy hearts.

Right in time for the culmination of World Rotaract Week last March 13, 2022, the Cebu Council of Rotaract Clubs had their DRR’s Visit at Casino Espanyol, Cebu. DRR Griffins Malazarte of RID 3860 with other District Officers, listened to the reporting of the achievements, accomplishments, and future plans of each club. Presidents and officers exchanged applause as they individually shared the stories of Rotaractors as they kickstart positive changes and sustainable solutions to the community they served. Afterwards, the Rotaractors headed to TeaTas of Cebu for fellowship dinner and trivia games.

More than ever, the World Rotaract Week celebrates the stories of proactive leaders who champion for important causes. It is known that the Cebu Council of Rotaract Clubs work side by side to achieve its mission and together, we rise up to meet the collective challenges of the times. These stories are worth celebrating for as history will show that the world’s Rotaractor helped to move from despair to hope.

What about you? How did you celebrate the 54th World Rotaract Week?
