In line with its 2nd Charter Anniversary celebration on November 21, 2025, the Rotaract Club of Ipil Sibugay spearheaded a meaningful initiative on November 22, 2025, focused on mental health awareness and self-care for the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the female dormitory. Titled “Self-Care and Mental Wellbeing: Take Care of Your Mind, It Matters,” the activity aimed to promote mental well-being, self-love, and holistic care among participants, while also providing practical support in the form of personal hygiene kits and slippers.

The event began with a heartfelt prayer, setting a reflective and uplifting tone for the day. Participants were then engaged in an interactive and educational session led by Ms. Myra Ann Pandaan, a registered nurse and mental health advocate. Ms. Pandaan emphasized the importance of acknowledging one’s emotions, practicing self-care routines, and seeking support when needed. Her talk encouraged the PDLs to prioritize their mental well-being and recognize that caring for their minds is just as essential as caring for their bodies.

In addition to the informative session, the Rotaract Club distributed personal hygiene kits and slippers to the female dormitory residents. These tangible gifts were not only practical but also symbolic of the club’s commitment to the dignity, comfort, and overall welfare of the PDLs.

The program concluded on a heartwarming note as the PDLs expressed their gratitude through a song, leaving the attendees moved by their sincerity and resilience. The combination of education, support, and emotional connection made the event both impactful and memorable.

Through this activity, the Rotaract Club of Ipil Sibugay highlighted the significance of mental health awareness and self-care, especially among vulnerable populations. By integrating informative talks, meaningful engagement, and material support, the club demonstrated its dedication to fostering holistic well-being and empowering individuals to value their mental health.

The “Self-Care and Mental Wellbeing: Take Care of Your Mind, It Matters” initiative underscores the Rotaract Club’s belief that mental health is a priority for all and that small acts of care can create lasting positive change. This activity, framed within the club’s anniversary celebration, reflects its ongoing commitment to community service, compassion, and advocacy for both physical and emotional well-being.
