Pink Perspective Year 6: Uniquely You in Pink joyfully continues the Rotaract Club of Cebu Fuente’s annual tradition of empathy, education, and community support for breast cancer awareness. The disease continues to challenge people across different places, ages, backgrounds, and even genders. It continues to haunt us, yet we find light even in the darkest times. Six years on, Pink Perspective remains a platform for informative discussions and stories of hope, welcoming both new and returning participants. It offers a space to tune out the noise of daily life and focus on one of its most pressing realities: living in a world affected by cancer.

For the first time, Pink Perspective held its celebration on a single day, and it garnered one of the highest numbers of participants in its history. Dr. Kim Gonzalez Daroy returned as the Breast Disease Specialist, discussing the fundamentals of breast cancer, early detection, and common misconceptions.
Dr. Carmina Comendador Alferez, FPOGS, delivered a guided discussion on processing grief. Like Dr. Daroy, she returned to share insights on grief, drawing from both professional expertise and deeply personal experiences. Her conversation resonated with many participants because of its grounded and heartfelt context. Attendees were given the opportunity to look inward and confront the realities of grief—reminded that we are allowed to remember the “middle” of the story, not just its end.

The second phase of the day’s celebration featured two speakers under the segment “Stories of Hope.” Past District Governor (PDG) and Rotary International Director Jennifer Scott shared her uplifting triumph over cancer, highlighting how running marathons and engaging in physical activities became both an outlet for anxiety and a source of joy and accomplishment.
The second speaker was Ms. Rodly Anne Ricafort, a Digital Marketing Associate and returning speaker. She courageously shared her journey through multiple diagnoses, treatment, and life while battling breast cancer. Her story brought the entire audience into the present moment, illustrating how trials can bring forth resilience and triumph—reflected powerfully in both her story and that of PDG Jennifer Scott.

Within a single day, participants were allowed to feel grief, understand themselves, and experience their emotions through listening to stories of hope. Pink Perspective continues to lead the conversation on cancer awareness. For six years, it has consistently advocated for early detection, proper treatment, and life beyond diagnosis, striking a balance among diverse experiences that encourage participants to reflect on their own lives.
The Rotaract Club of Cebu Fuente brought its members together under the theme “Uniquely You in Pink,” emphasizing the power of self-reinvention and personal strength in every individual.

The club also provided a platform for long-standing cancer awareness advocates from the ICANserve Foundation. Their continued support and presence offer reassurance and guidance to those seeking to learn more about the disease.
Rotarians, Rotaractors, members of the CDU community, ICANserve Foundation representatives, and willing participants continue to return to Pink Perspective to support its message of hope. The increasing number of attendees points to an optimistic reality: the message of prevention, early detection, treatment, and support is growing stronger every year.
