In the ongoing battle against Dengue, the Rotaract Club of Metro Cebu proudly presents DENGUARD, a groundbreaking initiative under Rotary International’s Focus on Disease Prevention and Treatment. This flagship project stands as a beacon of hope, actively guarding communities against the threat of Dengue fever.
On June 28, 2023, DENGUARD spread its protective wings over 330 families in Brgy. Punta Princesa and Labangon, Cebu City, marking the first of its impactful interventions. The project, driven by the Rotaract Club of Metro Cebu, focuses not only on immediate relief but on sustained prevention.
A second wave of DENGUARD’s impact surged on August 26, 2023, as the project reached the students and faculty at Cansojong National High School. The commitment to disease prevention and treatment echoed loudly as educational pamphlets, mosquito repellents, and essential items became the frontline of defense.
DENGUARD is more than a charitable gesture; it’s a community-driven movement. Collaborating with partners like the Rotary Club of Metro Cebu (our mother club), the Rotaract Club of Metro Cebu – CIT Chapter, and Youth for Better Talisay – Cansojong Chapter, this initiative exemplifies the power of unity. By harnessing the collective strength of Rotary International affiliates and local youth organizations, DENGUARD transforms from a project into a testament to what can be achieved when communities unite for a common cause.
This initiative, with its dual approach of larvicide distribution and educational outreach, not only fights the symptoms but addresses the root causes of Dengue. DENGUARD stands tall, not just as a shield against disease but as a symbol of community resilience and Rotary’s commitment to creating lasting, positive change.
