In a heartwarming display of compassion and community spirit, the Rotaract Club of Tacloban kicked off the New Rotary Year by organizing the “Padayon, Pagmangno” project. This
outreach initiative aimed to address the urgent needs of elderly individuals and orphans residing in the Pope Francis Complex Center for the Poor, located in Bgy. Arado, Palo, Leyte.
Under the banner of the ‘Guiding Light’ activity, the project highlighted the vital role played by the elderlies in fostering optimism and hope, not just within the confines of the Leyte province but throughout District 3860 as well.
Meanwhile, the therapy provided for orphans centered around harnessing their creativity and utilizing art as a means of improving their mental well-being. By encouraging self-expression and providing a platform for them to explore their artistic talents, the project aimed to uplift the spirits of these kids who have faced adversity at such a tender age.
The success of this impactful endeavor was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Rotaract Clubs of Davao, Loyola Heights, Mandaue East, and San Juanico, and with our esteemed service partners, Department of Health – Region 8 (DOH-R8), PNP Regional AntiCybercrime Unit (RACU), Victoria Salon and Spa, anonymous law students, B Creatives and MUPH-Leyte, Tacloban Tap Commercials, Volunteers for the Visayans, MSY Rent a Car, and Samsam Bistro.
For the new members, this project served as their first official service endeavor. It provided them with a unique opportunity to embody the core values of Rotary and Rotaract, fostering a sense of dedication and community engagement from the very beginning of their Rotaract journey.
As the Rotaract Club of Tacloban sets the stage for a new Rotary Year, “Padayon, Pagmangno” serves as a shining example of the power of collective action and the positive impact that can be achieved when individuals come together to uplift the lives of those in need.
The ‘Padayon, Pagmangno’ initiative is a significant component of our ‘Sidlit’ program, which serves as a bridge between our Imaginative term and our Hope-Creating term. Through this initiative, we aim to bring positive change and make a lasting impact on the lives of those most vulnerable in our community.
