It brought together young people to discuss topics that matter most to them, and they had the chance to watch a video message prepared by Atty. Leni Robredo which are rooted in volunteerism and service.
During the Opening Day of the said event, The Rotaract Club of Makati had an opportunity to set up a booth named “RAC in-STALL“. This project aims to (1) promote The Rotaract Club of Makati to other Asean, Community and School based Organizations, (2) increase the club membership to attract fresh volunteers and progressive leaders, (3) to raise money and finance the club’s charitable endeavors, (4) to donate to The Rotary Foundation in End Polio Campaign using “Sampung Piso Para sa Polio” and (5) to advertise our adopted community, Gentri’s Best, composed of Local Farmers from General Trias Cavite who are selling and manufacturing dairy products.
That day, The Rotaract Club of Makati gathered an amount of 1,960 pesos from a fun-filled activity called Wheel of Spin, for every Php 10.00 pesos donation they will have one free spin and get the chance to win the grand prize, sticky notes, pen and etc. The money will be donated to Rotary International to help save lives and give children a chance at a healthy, polio-free future.
Why “Sampung Piso”?
The national hero seen in our 10-peso coin is Apolinario Mabini (“Utak ng Himagsikan”), a man who inspired Filipinos to fight for independence despite him being struck by polio shortly before the Philippine Revolution of 1896. Notwithstanding him being unable to physically fight on the battlefield due to paralysis in both legs, he performed all his revolutionary and governmental activities. Mabini used his brilliance through his written works to inspire Filipinos in pursuing the struggle for Philippine independence.
No child should have to suffer from a vaccine-preventable disease. Join us as we take action in the global fight to #EndPolio!
Ending off with a blast, presented the different talents of the ASEAN youth in the One ASEAN Voice, a concert for a cause and a celebration for all the ASEAN youth advocates out there who are fighting for a better world.
And as one of the partners of ASEAN Youth Week 2022, The Rotaract Club of Makati have been given an opportunity to use the One ASEAN Voice Closing Concert last August 13, 2022, to promote the club’s causes and make a call for volunteers.
