Let’s be honest. You probably aren’t going to read this whole article.
But what if it was read to you out loud while driving to work, working out at the gym, completing chores around the house or doing your projects/thesis?
Better yet, imagine listening to a smooth, relaxing voice like Joyce Pring’s. You’d be hanging on every word, and ready for the next episode immediately after.
As the world becomes busier, the podcast format has become incredibly popular. Audio content allows the listener to multitask. A recent study showed that while 49% of podcast listening happens at home, 22% happens while driving, 11% at work, and 8% while exercising. Podcast audio content gives listeners the ability to dive into topics without having to set aside time to read or watch a video and that is the beauty of podcasts, and today they are more popular than ever. With the COVID-19 pandemic, the rise of digital media such as podcasts has continued to rise.
For the past 2 years, outdoor activities and social gathering have been prohibited. Most of the club’s activities, meetings, webinar and the like are through online. Some speakers need to prepare slides and are required to open their camera. The Rotaract Club of Makati thought about an activity in which the speaker nor the attendees don’t need to prepare slides and open the camera and think of ways on how each and every one in the club was able to build a stronger bond and help develop skills and knowledge to other club members in these unprecedented times. This activity is called the UBER Podcast.
Facilitated by Rtr. Jover Acebuche and Camille Bartolome.

“We have to step out of ourselves and try to see why their opinions are like that. And it’s only when we take that step forward to understand them will we be able to accept those different opinions about us and therefore, move in the right direction of either accepting those judgments of others or rejecting them.” —PP Bimbo Mills of the Rotary Club of Makati
