Rotaract Club of Tagbilaran – BISU Chapter hosted a webinar on fostering peace entitled, “Insurgency Awareness” last Saturday, November 27, 2021. The topic was given light by our speaker, Sgt. Vacaro Them. He is well-respected and is the prominent Information Support Affairs NCO of 47IB, Camp Rajah Sikatuna, Carmen, Bohol.
Sgt. Vacaro Them informed the participants on the insurgency situation in our country, the Philippines. Tiny, poorly equipped gangs operating mostly from rural areas carry out a violent, armed rebellion against authorities. Sgt. Vacaro shared his knowledge and experience about insurgency while he was in service. He underlined the significance of being aware of our country’s current predicament and status. He also informed us about the challenges and dangers posed by these insurgents. The country has been divided, and because we are divided and there is war in our own country, progress cannot be assured. It’s critical that we understand what the country is still fighting for. Sgt. Vacaro also stated that the government is doing all possible to address and resolve the rebellion. He said that this is not simply the government’s fight, but also ours, and that by being aware, we can help.
After Sgt. Vacaro’s powerful and informative lectures, he invited the audience to ask questions for clarifications and extra information. There were a lot of interested heads, and it was obvious that it piqued their attention. Rtr. Jessie Jr. San then formally ended the webinar and went through the most important aspects. It is now a challenge to raise awareness and protect what we value.

Ang gihisgutan kaniadtong webinar kay ang kaso sa Insurgency o Insurhensya sa Pilipinas. Ang insurhensya mao ang kasagaran nga bayolente ug armadong rebelyon nga binuhat sa mga partikular nga grupo kontra sa awtoridad. Si Sgt. Vacaro Them mipakigbahin sa pipila sa iyang panahon alang mapaambit ang iyang kaalam mahitungod sa insurhensyang actibidad sulod sa nasod. Gipaibabaw niya ang importansya nga makahibalo ang masa sa kapeligro aning mga kalihokana. Gipresentar ni Sgt. Vacaro sa mga negatibong epekto sa insurhensya sa mga niapil aniang mga grupoha ug gibutyag niya kung kingsa ang mga nakabenipisyo ug dako sa aning mga kalihokan. Gipadayag usab ang pag indoktrinar sa mga miyembro pasulod aning mga grupoha. Nipasalig si Sgt. Vacaro nga gibuhat sa gobyerno ang tanan para mapakunhod ang insurhensya sa Pilipinas.
