The Rotaract Clubs of RI District 3800, also known as the “Resilient District,” embody strength and adaptability, as many of their areas regularly experience floods, typhoons, and other natural calamities. In response to these recurring challenges, the Rotaract Club of Baras took the lead in empowering Baraseño families by initiating a disaster preparedness and emergency response program aimed at strengthening community resilience.

The Rotaractors gathered 50 family heads from various flood-prone barangays—Santiago, San Salvador, San Miguel, Concepcion, Rizal, and Mabini—on August 25, 2025. In partnership with the Baras Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), they conducted a seminar on disaster preparedness and proper response during unforeseen calamities.

As part of the activity, the Rotaract Club distributed Go Bags for Emergency, which contained ropes, candles, a lighter, a flashlight, batteries, a whistle, and first aid kits. These bags serve not only as emergency kits but also as improvised “salbabida” (lifesavers) during floods.

Following the seminar, the Rotaractors proceeded to Tabing Ilog Street in Brgy. Santiago—another flood-prone area—where they continued distributing the Go Bags to residents and shared essential information on emergency and disaster response.

This initiative reflects one of the key visions of the Rotaract Club of Baras for this Rotary Year—to equip every family with the knowledge and tools needed to stay safe and prepared. As the saying goes, “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.”
