Guardians of the Night: Project SEKYU Year 6 Illuminates Lucena City’s Unsung Heroes

Project S.E.K.Y.U. (SEguridad at Kalusugan aY Unahin) stands as a beacon of support for the unsung heroes of Lucena City—the night shift security guards and barangay tanods. Our mission is clear: to bolster their immune health, ensuring they’re equipped to tackle their crucial responsibilities effectively. This project was held last February 1, 2024.

In our relentless pursuit of this goal, we’ve left no stone unturned. Through Project S.E.K.Y.U., we’ve provided vital lifelines to these community guardians. From steaming cups of coffee to warm their weary bones to comforting bowls of lugaw to fuel their night vigils, no detail has been overlooked. But we didn’t stop there. Recognizing the importance of fortified immune systems in their line of duty, we’ve also supplied immunoprotect vitamins, courtesy of the Quezon Provincial Health Office and New Jiandra Enterprises.

Yet, our impact extends beyond mere provisions. It’s a testament to the power of collective action. Konsehal Patrick Nadera’s unwavering support, alongside the generous donations from our members, has enabled us to outfit (58) night shift security guards and (42) barangay tanods with jackets—symbols of warmth, both literal and figurative, in the chill of the night.

Through our concerted efforts, we’ve transformed mere acts of charity into acts of profound significance. We’ve empowered 100 essential community guardians, equipping them not only with tangible resources but also with a sense of solidarity and support. As Project S.E.K.Y.U. continues to illuminate the path forward, let it serve as a reminder: in unity, there is strength, and in support, there is resilience. Together, we stand—unyielding in our commitment to safeguarding those who safeguard us.
