In a remarkable display of environmental stewardship, the Rotaract Clubs of Rotary International District 3850 joined forces for an ambitious tree planting initiative, aptly named “Road to 3850 Trees.” This collaborative effort has resulted in the planting of an astounding 6,016 trees across the district as of July 2, 2023, marking a significant milestone in their commitment to combat climate change and promote sustainable practices.

Recognizing the urgent need to address the challenges posed by deforestation and ecological degradation, the Rotaractors took the initiative to organize this district-wide tree planting activity as their kick-off event to welcome the new Rotary year under the leadership of District Rotaract Representative Magic Alvarado from the Rotaract Club of Metro Bacolod.

Rotaract clubs from various cities within District 3850, including Bacolod, Iloilo, Zamboanga, Roxas, Sagay, Dipolog, Ozamiz, and Tawi-Tawi, came together to execute this green endeavor. Volunteers worked tirelessly, collaborating with local authorities, environmental organizations, and community members to identify suitable locations for tree planting. Each club meticulously planned the logistics, ensuring that the tree species selected were indigenous, adaptable to local climates, and aligned with the district’s long-term sustainability goals.

The district-wide tree planting activity took place simultaneously over the course of two days, with each Rotaract club adopting a designated area to restore and revitalize. Armed with shovels, saplings, and determination, the young volunteers meticulously planted a diverse array of trees, ranging from indigenous species to those specifically suited for urban environments.

The initiative was not merely an exercise in environmental stewardship but also a testament to the core values of Rotary International. The Rotaractors firmly believe that empowering communities and preserving the environment go hand in hand. By engaging in hands-on activities such as tree planting, they not only combat climate change but also foster a sense of unity and purpose among local residents.
