Imagination and Action: Setting Visions, Creating Impact

Imagination and Action.

These two words may seem to be at the polar opposites of each other, with the former being a mental concept while the latter being a physical one, yet these two concepts are intertwined with each other, especially in terms of materializing aspirations. What starts from imagination, when applied with appropriate action, can produce results that may bring upon positive change in the society we are living in.

The idea of addressing social issues served as a common denominator for Rotarians and Rotaractors in terms of our reasons to be part of our respective Rotary and Rotaract clubs.

As Batangueños, we are commonly known to be as strong as a warm cup of freshly brewed kapeng barako and as sharp as a honed edge of a balisong. Moreover, we are also referred to as people filled with compassion and dedication for community service and nation building.

Youthful smile. Through simple gift-giving and outreach projects of Rotary and Rotaract, smiles can be seen in the faces of children of the community.

I started with a vision of a community filled with smiles as they are living in an environment where they are safe, secured, and sustained with their needs.

I was just a simple Batangueño who wanted to help those who are in need as I believe that we live to serve a greater purpose beyond what we see, and our club, the Rotaract Club of Batangas Premier (RAC-BP), opened avenues for me to learn more and participate on various initiatives.

Upon entering Rotaract Club of Batangas Premier, my perspectives truly widened as I got to know more about my fellow Rotaractors, from within and outside Batangas Premier, and their stories upon why we do what we do, showcasing the beauty of diversity, equity, and inclusivity. That made me realize the true value of having a clear imagination in terms of what we desire especially for the society at large. Once the goals are clear, it would be easier for us to plot the objectives, and therefore create actions to bring that imagination into reality.

With all our projects and initiatives deeply rooted in volunteerism, we were able to materialize our goals upon seeing the expected results from our beneficiaries at the end of every endeavor that we spearheaded, seeing how our imagination transpires to reality when properly acted upon.

Now that my personal vision is currently in the process of coming true, another vision of mine starts to formulate.

Wash it clean. Aiming to teach children the basics of personal hygiene and sanitation, Rotary and Rotaract clubs work together to launch projects for the community.

That is, to continue the ripple effect of positive change by engaging more members of the youth to be part of various causes aimed towards sustainable development of our communities.

Together, let us imagine and act

Every Rotaractor has their own visions, may it be similarly or contrasting to each other, but in Rotary and Rotaract, these visions intersect and if there will be chances to create actions for this, a larger impact can be expected from consolidated products of imagination.

Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world.
