Last September 2021, the Rotaract Club of Adamson University launched a campaign aiming to give awareness about the registration process as well as the significance of the 2022 National Elections. The campaign, “Kabataang Maynila, Magparehistro Ka!”, lasted from September 1, 2021, extending until the last day of voter registration, October 30, 2021, which is, fortunately, the government’s decision to extend the last day of registration.
Most of the campaign involved informational posts and other publicity materials such as a Facebook Profile Picture Frame, on the club’s Facebook Page, and a kickoff webinar which was held last September 11, 2021. The speakers invited were Rep. Sarah Elago, from the Kabataan Partylist, Rappler’s Head of Community Mr. Jules Guiang, and Mr. Bryan Gonzales, President of the National Society of Parliamentarians, Inc.
The webinar was hosted by the Club International Service Director Ms. Angelynd Marcadejas, Rotaract Club of Kabataang Maynila’s Life-Changing President June Edgar Asok, our sister club. The attendees of the webinar peaked at 300 participants, which is a surprise given the short amount of time in preparation for the event.
In the conclusion of this campaign project, Life-Changing President Marco Rubia Angeles said that the Rotaract Club of Adamson University has made its first contribution to nation-building by showing the youth of the City of Manila that the right to suffrage is also a social and communal responsibility.
In line with its mission to harness youth leadership in the club for the future of the nation, the club—with great sensibilities and dedication to servant-leadership—launched its development campaign, iLead: Empowering [YOU]-th Leadership in the face of adversity.
The event focuses primarily on inspiring and empowering the young through competent leadership, inaugurate programs that aim to support student leaders to pursue leadership despite challenges brought by the recent crisis, economically and politically, and opening a platform for Vincentians, Rotaractors and other youth leaders to exchange ideas and inspirations to efficiently manage their respective organizations and communities.
Different publicity materials including the photo blast, official poster, a countdown, and the main event poster which featured the speakers and partner organizations from Adamson University were posted on the official Facebook page of the club.
The speakers who gave their insights into becoming an effective leader in school and in the community were former Adamson University Student Government Presidents Mr. Wilmer Baliwag, and Mr. Nico Mercado. Mr. Mercado, who is also a board topnotcher in the 2020 Licensure Examinations for Geologists, shared his journey into balancing a stellar academic record and representing all students in the university. The District Rotaract Representative-Elect of the Rotary International District 3810, Ms. Krystene Bello, offered her expertise in managing expectations and leadership in the community in the same forum.
The forum was hosted by the Rotaract Club of Adamson University’s President-Elect, Ms. Coleen Sharmagne Balagtas. The event started at 4:15pm up until 7:00pm. The number of people who registered reached 160 participants who came from the Rotaract Club of Adamson University together with partner university student organizations and Rotaract Clubs.
