Global Grant Application: A Step Closer for Rotaractors

By Stephen James C. Cachuela | Posted on September 23, 2021

For Rotarians and Rotaractors alike, the greatest form of service is to provide long-term solutions to  community’s problems. To be able to deliver sustainability to society’s denizens is of paramount importance to every one of Rotary’s areas of focus.

PDG Penny states that “Rotaract is very crucial in the application of global grants”

The Rotary Foundation seeks to help Rotary Clubs achieve such feats by funding them through what we call global grants. This happens when Rotary Club partners with another club outside the host club’s country for a project and they complete the necessary steps as stated in the global grant guide.

As a major part of the ongoing Elevate Rotaract, Rotaract Clubs are now encouraged to partner with their sponsoring Rotary Clubs in global grant applications. Come July 1, 2022, Rotaract Clubs will now be allowed to apply for Global Grants and one of the requirements is to conduct a global grant project with their sponsoring Rotary Club.

Notable people in the picture are: DRR Dianna Desuyo, DS Joyce Damasen, LCP Arthea of the host club (RAC Quirino), LCPs Gerald and Princess of the co-host clubs (RAC Kagitingang Cubao and RAC Uptown Cubao respectively)

As a contribution to this growing ideal, Rotary International District 3780 showed how global grants can be an effective Rotary and Rotaract collaboration. Since supporting global grant application of Rotaract clubs with their sponsoring Rotary clubs is one of the initiatives, the Grant Management Seminar for Rotaract was created. This is under the effective leadership and guidance of the District Rotaract Team of RID 3780 and through the hosting of the Rotaract Clubs of Quirino-Quezon City, Kagitingang Cubao, Loyola Heights, and Uptown Cubao.

DRR Dianna Isabelle Desuyo gives her closing remarks and encourages other Rotaractors to collaborate more with their sponsoring Rotary Club.

The seminar was divided into two parts, the 1st session was conducted last August 29, 2021, with the topic: Understanding Rotary Foundation Grants and was exquisitely discussed by the Assistant Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator for Zone 10A PDG Rufino “Penny” L. Policarpio, III.

PDG Penny Policarpio receives his Certificate of Appreciation for being the speaker during the 1st session of the Grant Management Seminar for Rotaract.

The 2nd session is scheduled on September 26, 2021 and will feature the actual composition and process of global grant application to be demonstrated by our District Grants Chair, PP Rene Cantos.

Rotary and Rotaract truly brings out the best in each other, and through this collaboration, both would be able to assess the civilization’s needs and provide the service with supreme quality.
