The spirit of connection and collaboration came alive as the Rotaract Club of Tacloban successfully hosted the Ugnayan Summit 2026, a gathering that brought together Rotaractors from across the Philippines and abroad to celebrate fellowship, strengthen partnerships, and inspire service beyond borders.
Held as the culminating event of Project UGNAY, an International Service Initiative, the summit served as a platform for Rotaractors to connect, exchange ideas, and explore opportunities for meaningful collaboration. Guided by the theme of ugnay, a Filipino word that represents connection and relationship, the event highlighted how shared purpose and collective action can strengthen the impact of service within the Rotaract movement.

The summit gathered 95 Rotaractors representing 40 clubs from the Philippines and various parts of the world, reflecting the growing network of leaders committed to building friendships and advancing service initiatives across communities. Through conversations, interactive sessions, and shared experiences, participants were reminded that Rotaract thrives when individuals and clubs work together toward common goals.
One of the highlights of the summit was the UGNAYAN Solidarity AVP, which featured messages from variousRotaract clubs sharing what connection, fellowship, and service mean. The video brought together voices from different parts of the world, demonstrating how diversity within Rotaract strengthens the movement and amplifies its impact. Each message reinforced the idea that service becomes more powerful when people come together in solidarity and shared purpose.
The summit was further enriched by the presence of distinguished leaders who shared their insights and perspectives with the participants. Among the guest speakers were PDRR Ian de Borja, Chairperson-Elect of the Asia Pacific Rotaract MDIO; PDRR Stephen Ferrera, Chairperson of the Pilipinas Rotaract MDIO; and PDRR Joseph JP Ilagan, Chief Membership Engagement Officer of the Pilipinas Rotaract MDIO. Their energy and enthusiasm helped transform the event into a meaningful gathering that highlighted the importance of connection in advancing service initiatives and strengthening the Rotaract community.
More than just a virtual gathering, Ugnayan Summit 2026 served as a reminder that Rotaract is built on relationships that extend beyond geographical boundaries. As participants shared their experiences and visions for the future, the summit reinforced the idea that collaboration and solidarity remain essential in creating sustainable and impactful service projects.

As the summit concluded, Rotaractors left with renewed inspiration and a deeper sense of connection with fellow leaders across the network. The relationships formed and strengthened during the event continue to embody the essence of ugnay, a bond that empowers Rotaractors to work together in service, leadership, and community development.
With the momentum generated by the summit, the Rotaract Club of Tacloban hopes that the connections built through Project UGNAY will continue to grow and inspire further collaboration among clubs around the world.
