Sustaining the Future: Why Environmental Action is the Foundation of Rotary Service

As we observe Environment Month this April, the piece highlights how the Rotary Foundation’s 2020 decision to make environmental protection a formal Area of Focus has empowered young leaders. It argues that environmental health is not a standalone issue, but rather the essential foundation upon which all other Rotary goals – such as disease prevention and economic development are built. 

TRASHure has been a long-standing commitment of the Rotaract Club of Cebu Fuente–University of the Visayas Chapter in serving the community and promoting environmental responsibility.

From Oil to Soil, an initiative led by the Rotaract Club of Zamboanga City and the Rotaract Club of Ipil Sibugay, in partnership with Kids Who Farm and local champions of sustainability. The project introduces the Gardenator—a low-cost, low-tech innovation designed to transform household biowaste into fresh, homegrown vegetables.
