When Typhoon Tino (PH) struck Cebu, it left in its wake flash floods that displaced families, damaged homes, and disrupted livelihoods across multiple communities. In response to this urgent need, the Rotaract Clubs of Cebu Fuente swiftly mobilized to lead a coordinated relief effort under the banner of Pails of Hope, bringing together members, volunteers, partners, and donors to restore hope and provide essential support to affected families.
Through this initiative, the team reached households across Talisay City, Asturias, Balamban, Danao City, and Liloan, ensuring that relief was not only timely but also meaningful. Each pail distributed contained carefully selected items designed to address immediate needs—rice, canned goods, noodles, biscuits, milk, coffee, hygiene essentials, detergent powder, drinking water, medicines, and, where appropriate, used clothing, linens, and bath towels. In addition, cooked meals such as chicken rice porridge and boiled eggs were provided, while special loot bags were prepared for children to help lift spirits during a difficult period.
Beyond the physical provisions, the Pails of Hope initiative highlighted the resilience, dedication, and ingenuity of the Rotaract community. Members worked tirelessly to pack, transport, and distribute relief materials, often navigating challenging terrain and tight schedules. Project chairs and committee leads coordinated logistics and operations, ensuring that every household reached received the intended support and that all efforts were executed efficiently and safely.
Equally vital was the unwavering support from donors, community contacts, and partners. Their generosity—through financial contributions, in-kind donations, and logistical assistance—enabled the Rotaractors to extend their reach and sustain continuous relief operations. The collective commitment of everyone involved demonstrated the true spirit of Service Above Self, reinforcing the enduring ethos of Rotaract.
