Education is a right that everyone deserves, yet not all learners are able to follow a traditional path. Many face challenges—personal, financial, or circumstantial—that hinder them from completing formal schooling. The Alternative Learning System (ALS) was created to open doors for these individuals, giving them a second chance to learn at their own pace, regardless of age or background.
Recognizing this, the Rotaract Club of Tiaong Transforming New Gen has continued its five-year commitment to strengthening all areas of education. This year, the club focused on empowering the ALS learners of Recto Memorial National High School by equipping them with practical entrepreneurship skills—transforming learning into earning and helping them take steps toward their dreams.
The event was filled with hands-on, engaging activities aimed at sparking creativity and business readiness. It began with a pastillas-making tutorial, where students first observed a demonstration and then made their own batches. This was followed by a session on product costing, helping learners understand how to compute expenses, add markup, and determine potential profit.
Students were then guided through a logo-making discussion, learning how to conceptualize branding and use Canva to create their own business logos. The final session focused on basic marketing principles, showing how product promotion directly impacts profitability and customer reach.
Beyond the lessons, the club also distributed essential school supplies, livelihood starter kits, and tumblers—practical resources that can help learners begin their own small ventures and support their educational journey.
This year’s Edu-Aksyon successfully bridged learning and income-generating opportunities, empowering ALS learners to transform knowledge into real-life possibilities. It proved that education is for everyone and that with the right support, no dream is out of reach. When communities come together, we can continue to uplift learners, close educational gaps, and build pathways toward success.
