The CommUnidad Project is the flagship community development initiative of the Rotaract Club of Manila Metro, dedicated to empowering grassroots communities through sustainable livelihood design and inclusive participation. Rooted in the belief that transformation begins at the local level, the project provides long-term, practical, and scalable solutions to address economic and social challenges faced by families in vulnerable areas.

One of its cornerstone programs is the Community Urban Gardening Project in the adopted community of BASECO Port, Manila. What began as a small-scale effort with just 20 mother volunteers has now flourished into a thriving network of more than 250 active volunteers, composed mainly of parents who are committed to creating a healthier and more sustainable environment for their families.

Through consistent training, mentorship, and resource-sharing, the initiative has not only improved food security by providing access to fresh produce but has also fostered a culture of self-reliance, collaboration, and environmental stewardship. The project has become a safe space for parents to learn, share skills, and explore sustainable livelihood opportunities that can supplement household income.

Over the years, the CommUnidad Project has grown into a living testament of collective action—transforming idle spaces into productive gardens, nurturing solidarity among residents, and inspiring future generations to take part in sustainable practices. The Rotaract Club of Manila Metro continues to expand its reach, ensuring that the spirit of unity and community empowerment remains at the heart of every initiative.
