Caring Forward: A Health Mission for Women

By Paula Cathryn Gutierrez | Posted on September 26, 2025

Women are often known to balance multiple responsibilities—as caregivers, professionals, partners, and leaders—frequently putting the needs of others before their own. Yet women’s health should be viewed as an investment rather than an expense—not only for themselves, but also for the well-being of their families and communities. Through their healthcare journey, every woman should feel empowered, confident, and knowledgeable about her own body.

The Kalusugan ng Kababaihan Pangkabayanan Inc. (KnKPInc) serves with the vision of empowering women and improving the health and well-being of marginalized Filipino women who are deprived of access to quality healthcare services. Obstetrics and Gynecology specialists, healthcare professionals, and volunteers of KnKPInc collaborated with the Rotaract Club of San Pablo City and the local government of Magdalena, Laguna to carry out the project entitled “Caring Forward: A Health Mission for Women” on August 17, 2025.

In just one day, the organizations and local government served 172 patients. The project offered an array of essential medical services focused on women’s needs. Clinical care included obstetrics and gynecological ultrasounds, breast and cervical cancer screening, consultations, and specialized procedures as needed. Beyond clinical care, patients also attended a health talk that empowered them with vital knowledge on women’s health—helping them better understand and take charge of their own bodies.

With the country’s continuing challenges in providing access to quality healthcare, this project stands as a strong reminder of the impact of compassion and collaboration. By working together, the organization and local government were able to bridge healthcare gaps and provide much-needed education. It also serves as an advocacy effort dedicated to empowering women, fostering a culture of self-care, resilience, and proactive health management. Ultimately, everyone deserves the opportunity to expand their knowledge and take charge of their health.
