“Crypto is all about the tech and the people.” – Crypto Queen
The Rotaract Club of Midtown QC, in partnership with Rotary Club of Midtown QC and Interact Club of New Era High School conducted the second webinar series of the project: Financially Literate Youth (FLY) entitled “Crypto Clarified” on February 12, 2022 via Zoom. Project FLY is a Webinar series that aims to educate young minds financially. This drive by RAC MQC is available to the public, led by their Finance Service Committee. On its first series “Let’s Talk Money,” the crowd were showered with knowledge in budgeting, savings and insurance. LTM’s Resource Speaker, Maria Ester “Beng” B. Gabatin, MBA, the President Nominee of RCMQC.
The second part of the project aimed to improve awareness of the crypto-basics world and shed light on NFT games, Trading Platforms (Binance), and transformation that block-chain technology has brought to current payment and transaction processes.
Ms. Angeline “Chii” Viray, aka Crypto Queen, is the co-founder of Cryptocurrency Philippines, Metaversity Network, xNFT, and Ark of Dreams, a community-focused trader and mentor in cryptocurrency and NFT trading. She began by sharing basic crypto terms, which sparked the audience’s interest then went on explaining how bitcoin works: block-chain technology, fungible and non-fungible tokens, as well as being familiar with the trading platform, binance. The discussion went to the basics of trading and even on investment. She encouraged those interested in entering the crypto industry on where to begin and how to get started.
Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors, guests from several clubs, and districts attended the webinar. LCP of RCMQC Lynette Jacinto, CICO Mark Jacinto, and YSC JC Bonifacio guided the Rotaractors to successfully conduct this project and the ever-supportive District Governor-Elect Florian Enriquez also graced the event.
Learning about this type of content is advantageous in the crypto-world, this is after-all an interesting topic that is very in-demand in our growing and modernizing society. This initiative could benefit not only the club members in terms of overall knowledge, but also those who attended the webinar and could perhaps share what they learned with their peers. This would assist people, particularly the young, in becoming more financially savvy by enabling them to learn how to earn, save, and invest. As young people, we are eager and excited to earn our money, buy all the things we want and spend on our needs and give back to our families. However, we need to be reminded that as we start to handle our own finances, responsibility comes thereafter. There are risks in investing, including crypto as the market is very volatile. So always remember to only invest what you can afford to lose and make sure that your hard-earned investment will return doubled in the course of time. It’s not easy to be financially literate but let us help ourselves as our future is in our own hands.
Together, let us be Financially Literate Youths!
