TACLOBAN — The Rotaract Club of Tacloban officially launched “Project K-wento,” a literacy and youth development initiative, at Bliss Elementary School, Brgy. 74 Lower Nula-Tula, last September 19, 2025.
Project K-wento Kickoff
In partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) Tacloban City Division, Rotaractors from Tacloban and partner clubs gathered to support the initiative. Volunteers conducted book and learning material distributions, interactive storytelling sessions, reading circles, and creative activities with the children.
The project aims to promote literacy and empower young learners, with support from international Rotaract clubs—marking the beginning of a multi-phase literacy campaign.

Project K-wento Continues in Its Second Round
The second leg of “Project K-wento” continued with Phase 2 on October 2, 2025, at Tigbao-Diit Central School in Tacloban City.
Rotaractors returned with new stories and learning opportunities, engaging students in reading sessions and educational games that further emphasized the importance of literacy in youth development.
This time, volunteers encouraged students to explore books and express their ideas more freely.
The project reinforced the value of collaboration in community service, with each chapter of “Project K-wento” building a brighter, more empowered future for every child.
