August 2, 2025, marked a meaningful day of service and fellowship for me as a member of the Rotaract Club of Tacloban. Participating in a district-wide mangrove planting initiative and the team-building activity that followed reminded me that impactful service becomes even more powerful when carried out alongside people who share the same commitment and purpose.

The day began in Barangay Malaguicay, Abuyog, Leyte, where Rotaractors and Rotarians from the Leyte Council gathered for the “Restore the Coast, Reclaim the Future” mangrove planting activity. Together, we planted seedlings along the coastline to help protect coastal ecosystems and strengthen natural barriers against storms and environmental changes.

Although the sun was scorching that morning, the experience remained deeply meaningful. Planting mangroves under intense heat was physically demanding, yet the presence of fellow Rotaractors and Rotarians made the effort worthwhile. Each seedling symbolized hope for the future, and it felt fulfilling to contribute—even in a small way—to restoring the environment and protecting coastal communities.

As a new member, this experience allowed me to engage in meaningful service while building connections with fellow Rotaractors, Rotarians, and volunteers from other clubs.
After the activity, we continued the day with a team-building event in celebration of Membership and New Club Development Month. It provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships within the club.

Through games, shared meals, and conversations, we built trust and camaraderie. The experience created a welcoming environment that made us feel truly part of the organization.
Looking back, the day reflected what Rotaract truly represents—not just service, but relationships, teamwork, and shared purpose. Through these activities, we nurtured both the environment and a community of leaders ready to create lasting impact.
