Lucena City, December 13 — Project Lakas-Buhay: Building Strong Bones, Sustaining Healthy Blood was successfully conducted at Isabang Elementary School – Bocohan Annex, Brgy. Bocohan, Lucena City, providing free bone screening and hematocrit (blood) screening to community members as part of a preventive healthcare initiative.

A Rotaract volunteer conducts blood pressure screening for a beneficiary during Project Lakas-Buhay, one of the health assessments provided alongside bone density and hematocrit testing for residents of Brgy. Bocohan, Lucena City.

The project was implemented through the collective and coordinated efforts of Rotary Club of Lucena South, Rotaract Club of Lucena South, and Rotaract Club of Metro Lucena Pioneers, working together in equal collaboration while maintaining organizational roles. They were joined by partner organizations Unilab and Eagles Club of Hermano’s Finest Titanium.

Residents and parents from the local community participate in the screening program, demonstrating strong engagement in preventive healthcare initiatives organized by Rotary and Rotaract partners.

A total of 60 beneficiaries, composed of PTA members of Isabang Elementary School – Bocohan Annex and residents of Brgy. Bocohan, benefited from the free screening services. The activity was conducted in an orderly and systematic manner, ensuring that participants were properly guided and assisted throughout the screening process.

Screening results identified several participants with low hemoglobin levels, indicating possible cases of anemia, as well as individuals with reduced bone density, including osteopenia and osteoporosis. Encouragingly, around half of the screened participants showed normal bone density and healthy blood levels, reflecting the growing impact of preventive health awareness within the community.

Volunteers and medical personnel work together to assist beneficiaries throughout the screening process, ensuring an organized and accessible health service for the community. 🩺

Beyond diagnostics, Project Lakas-Buhay also emphasized health education, promoting proper nutrition, regular medical check-ups, and proactive health management. The initiative underscored the value of collaborative, community-based healthcare efforts in advancing early detection and supporting sustained community wellness.
