The Rotaract Club of Metro Bacolod proudly concluded three successful sessions of its project, “Little Chefs with Bite Sized Lessons: Empowering and Building Young Minds through Practical Life Skills,” an initiative aligned with Rotary’s Area of Focus on Basic Education and Literacy. Designed to introduce practical knowledge beyond traditional learning, the program provided a unique educational experience for 10 students from the Rotary Bolinao Child Development Center.

Beginning in January, the project created a fun and engaging environment where children could develop essential life skills while building confidence and teamwork. Through interactive sessions, participants were introduced to simple but meaningful tasks that are often not taught within a typical classroom setting. The children learned how to prepare pizzas and sandwiches, practice safe bread cutting, properly set up a dining table before meals, clean dishes, and identify basic cutlery and dining tools.

More than just cooking activities, the sessions aimed to cultivate independence, responsibility, and creativity among the participants. Each activity encouraged the children to explore new experiences while developing soft skills that can support them in their daily lives.

The program specifically focused on children from underserved backgrounds, providing them with opportunities that may otherwise be difficult to access. By introducing practical lessons in a supportive and enjoyable environment, the project sought to empower young learners with skills that extend beyond academic knowledge.

This initiative reflects the belief that education can happen anywhere. By bringing hands-on learning into the community, the Rotaract Club of Metro Bacolod continues to explore innovative ways to nurture young minds and help build confident, capable future leaders.
