When the ground shook and floodwaters followed, life in San Remigio changed overnight. Homes were damaged, routines disrupted, and for many families, even the most basic needs became uncertain. Among the most pressing challenges was access to clean water—something often taken for granted yet deeply essential to survival and dignity.

On November 22, hope arrived quietly but meaningfully. The Rotary Club of Cebu Fuente, led by President Jason Ong, together with members and representatives from the three Rotaract Clubs of Cebu Fuente, traveled to San Remigio not just to turn over a project but to stand with a community finding its way forward.

At the center of the visit was a newly constructed water well. Dug 15 feet underground, it now provides safe, drinkable water to the Lambusan and Kayam communities. For residents who endured days of uncertainty, the steady flow of clean water marked a return to normalcy—a powerful step toward rebuilding daily life.

Construction materials were also turned over to another barangay, helping families begin rebuilding homes and shared spaces. Together, these efforts reflected a holistic WASH approach—addressing clean water needs while supporting sanitation, hygiene, and overall community recovery.

As the day came to a close, children played near the well, families gathered nearby, and water flowed steadily—clear, clean, and full of promise. The Brick and Well of Hope stands as a reminder that rebuilding is as much about restoring dignity as it is about rebuilding structures.
