Note: This is a throwback to an event Rotaract Club of Cebu Fuente-University of San Carlos (RACCF-USC) did last Christmas.

Christmas is fast approaching. This is the most anticipated holiday by many, as they look forward to spending the holidays with their families, friends, and significant others. However, as the “Ber months have already started, this is not just about the holidays for the Rotaract Club of Cebu Fuente-University of San Carlos (RACCF-USC), but also the start of their banner project, “12 Days of Christmas.”.

RACCF-USC Rotaractors preparing the kits for the children

Last October 29, 2023, the RACCF-USC Rotaractors conducted the first phase of one of the 12 Days of Christmas projects, “BOOKas Palad,” held at Talamban Daycare Center III, Talamban, Cebu. It was led by the presence of the Hope Creating President, Jysrielle Faith Paderes, and the project heads, Executive Treasurer Rtr. April Sherese Macailing and Socio-cultural Committee Head/Spiritual Development Director, Rtr. Vines Joyce Naraga, with Rtr. Jackylin B. Canada and Aspirant Angee Roja.

One of the several games we played with the kids where Rotaractors, teachers, parents, and children all came together to have a great time

The program started with a prayer and was followed by the opening remarks of HCP Jysrielle expressing her heartfelt gratitude to PP Gerald Ponce for informing us of a daycare center teaching 80 children without proper supplies, stationery, books, and a bookshelf, which led to the group deciding on having Talamban Daycare Center III as the beneficiary of BOOKas Palad this year. The program was full of laughter as the organizers of the project conducted several games with the children that left them with a happy and memorable experience with the club.

School supplies kits distribution by our RACCF-USC volunteers

We started distributing the snacks for the kids, then distributed 80 kits of complete school supplies for the children to aid them in their education. The program ended with closing remarks and documentation to remember the memorable and precious encounter with young children filled with hopes and dreams.

As one of the volunteers for the project, it was an inspirational experience to have to interact with children who continue to believe that the world they live in is willing to aid them in achieving their goals to help them prosper as they venture out into the world as young professionals in the future who will one day be paying it forward to the future generation.
