The Rotaract Club of Cebu Fuente (RACCF), in collaboration with the 53rd Engineering Brigade and Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) Foundation, conducted a financial literacy seminar entitled, “WealthWave: Navigating Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship” at Camp Lapu-Lapu, Barangay Apas, Cebu City, on Saturday, March 17.
The event inspired the attendees who were seeking to navigate the currents of financial success and equipped them with the necessary skills and mindset of an entrepreneur.
The key speakers during the seminar were John Boniric Sanchez, BPI Cebu Loan Operations Officer; Nick Angelie Ronquillo, BPI Associate; and Rhenozo Barte, University of the Philippines – Cebu (UPC) Professor.
Sanchez and Ronquillo led the first session of the seminar with their talk, “Unboxed: Financial Wellness.” It covered the know-how of budgeting, saving, investing, and making informed decisions on one’s finances.
Meanwhile, Barte tackled the “Basics of Entrepreneurship” by providing the essential tips and tricks for kickstarting an entrepreneurial journey.
After the two sessions of sharing valuable finance-related knowledge, a panel discussion was held to allow the audience to ask questions to the speakers and two invited entrepreneurs: Don Jade Canama, the owner of City Laundry and Uncle Brew-Talamban, and Kevin Arjay Gever, the owner of Sole Appointment.
Approximately 65 military personnel from the 53rd Engineering Brigade attended the seminar, while 30 attended via Zoom.
It was a productive and insightful event filled with new learnings and community-building. Truly, the WealthWave stays true to its objective of creating ripples of impact for the people and with the people—one wave at a time.
