Longos Elementary School, Malabon City – The Rotaractors of Rotary International District 3800 launched Project PAG-ASA (PAGbilang at pagbASA) on September 3, 2023. This initiative aims to support the literacy and numeracy programs of Public Elementary Schools and Daycare Centers across the Greater Metropolitan Manila, with beneficiaries in Grades 2-3 and Daycare Pupils.
As a flagship project of Rotaract Clubs in Rotary International District 3800, under the leadership of District Rotaract Representative Raymart Cacho, Project PAG-ASA addresses Rotary’s Area of Focus under Basic Education and Literacy. The program will be implemented by all Rotaract Clubs within its responsibility area and will run for the duration of DEPED’s Second Quarter for the Academic Year 2023-2024.
The kick-off project featured a simulation of the activities planned for the Literacy and Numeracy Program, crafted by Rotaract District 3800 for its child beneficiaries. These activities will be replicated by Rotaract Clubs in the District. Basic Mathematical Operations and Basic Reading topics will be covered through various children’s stories and illustrations, taught by Rotaractors and volunteer teachers throughout the program. Through this project, Rotaract District 3800 aims to decrease the number of non-readers and math-deficient students in Greater Metropolitan Manila.
