RAC’s AEIOU: Addressing Education’s Imperfections by Creating Opportunities that Uplift lives

By Bea Malveda | Posted on September 23, 2023

The month of September is designated for Basic Education and Literacy.  For the Rotary International, it is a time to create awareness on the gaps in education around the world.

This month’s cover highlights the need for reform and improvement in the education sector. It underscores the belief that by addressing the flaws and challenges in education and providing new opportunities, we can enhance the quality of education and positively impact the lives of those who engage with the system. This topic encourages discussions and actions aimed at making education more equitable, effective and beneficial for all individuals. These could be made possible with the support of the Rotary International.

Specifically, the cover acknowledges one of the initiatives of the Rotaract Club of Bayombong of District 3770, which is to support the Brigada Pagbasa of Nueva Vizcaya General Comprehensive High School, its school partner, located in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. This is under the club’s Project COPE (Creating Opportunities to fight Problems in Education) and Project Basa that aimed to revitalize the love for reading among learners and provide them with school needs.

By dedicating a month to Basic Education and Literacy, it helps to draw attention to these vital areas and encourages people to take action, support educational initiatives and work towards ensuring that everyone has access to quality education and the ability to read and write, which are fundamental to personal growth and the development of thriving communities.
