Rotaract International District 3870 is composed of the Clubs located in the middle area of the island of Mindanao.
They are the home of vibrant Rotaractors serving the communities of Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, North Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao, and Camiguin Island.
The district is led by District Rotaract Representative (DRR) Al Rean Rey Nuenay. Dubbed as the “Heart of of Mindanao!, District 3870 is home to beautiful cultures, tribes, people and religions that coexist and lives harmonious in peace together.
One of the tourist destinations this District is known for is the beautiful island of Camiguin where you can enjoy pristine waters of white-sand beach resorts.
They also know for stunning Macajalar and Iligan Bays, enchanting Islamic City of the Philippines covering the Sultan Kudarat and Cotabato City, as well as the mirrored skies of the peaceful Lake Lanao, and to the New Zealand like beauty of Bukidnon.
For DRR Rean, leading the District which is far from each other was a challenge but because he embodies and lives the mantra of selfless service, everything seems to be smooth during his term, of course with the help of his active and supportive officers and members.
Nine years in community service is not a joke as it also eats your time especially when activities require a face-to-face involvement. That’s why the Pilipinas Rotaract Magazine initiated a conversation to know who is DRR Rean and how he envisions a better District 3870.
How long have you been with Rotaract?
9 years.
Tell me about your Rotaract journey?
It all started in 2013. I was invited by WCP Feliza Francisco which happens to be my Vice Governor in our college executive council where I was a Board Member.
In your stay in Rotaract, what are the perks and advantages of being one?
You travel a lot. You can meet youth leaders, professionals and highly-respected personalities. In addition, you also observe self-development and self-growth while you hone your leadership, social, and decision-making skills.
What are the struggles you’ve been experienced and how did you conquer it?
Struggle maybe your life is an open book. You will consider yourself as a public figure, so you need to be sterling example in almost everything you do.
Who motivated you to join Rotaract?
As previously answered, WCP Feliza Francisco. What motivated me however if for me to expand my causes/advocacies like education, embracing myself to the community. Learn from them and appreciate the beauty of life.
What are the good advices you want to remind to the new members of Rotaract?
Immerse yourself the community, engage in meaningful service projects, and experience Rotaract.
What’s the highlight of your Rotaract life?
My DRRship, this has been the dream of many. Not just with my district but to other district leaders as well. I always believe that others, more than yourself, can always see your greatest potential.
What are your contributions to Rotaract?
I am the 4th Paul Harris Fellow in our District. As the 34th District Rotaract Representative of The Heart of Mindanao, I lead the district to greater heights and milestones.
How’s your relationship with other Rotaractors and even Rotarians and Interactors?
Hahahaha they used to call me intimidating, really but once I started to visit clubs, I turned that judgment around. My relationship with Rotarians, Rotaractors, and Interactors are surely overwhelming with love and support.
What made you still stay in the organization?
It’s always the need of the community, the need of the people, and the need to serve to change lives.
How are you able to mentor other members and leaders in the group?
Continue with my passion in serving, and always wearing the illusive crown and sash always hahaha.
What made you a RacStar?
Myself. By just being who you are, and cease hiding of emotions. Rotaract helped me get ready for life. With all of hat, I am a RacStar.
