Volunteering can seem like a thankless job, but for these millennials, it’s a priceless experience.

Community service has been established at many youth-led organizations in Zamboanga City and beyond. Despite the ongoing pandemic, a network of young leaders from Zamboanga City’s Rotaract and Interact Council of Presidents maximized their outstanding efforts by conducting different projects that benefited thousands of Zamboangueño people across the city.

The council alone initiated the following projects: Feeding Program and Distribution of Hygiene Kits, and Trail Plogging.

The partnership between Rotaractors and Interactors of Zamboanga City for the Feeding Program and Distribution of Hygiene Kits served as an exemplary year-starting project of the organization. The respective clubs that took part in this joint project are as follows: Interact Club of Zamboanga City, Interact Club of Zamboanga City West, Rotaract Club of Zamboanga City East, Rotaract Club of WMSU, and Rotaract Club of Zamboanga City North. Each club made a significant contribution to the distribution of food packs, drinks, and hygiene kits to the BJMP inmates. The organization was also able to get sponsors including Tau Gamma Phi PC Compound Chapter, Sangguniang Kabataan Zone 1, and Divisoria Jollibee Food Corporation who all contributed and made the event possible.

This project was also initiated in celebration of the World Inter-Faith Harmony Week 2022 and to strengthen the conservation of our natural resources, foster harmony between the community and the environment, create a greener and cleaner surrounding for the betterment of the community, and to somehow be able to serve and change lives.

The Rotaract and Interact Council of Presidents of Zamboanga City conducted a Trail Plogging Project in Sitio Muruk, Upper Pasonanca last February 1, 2022. There were a total of 71 volunteers coming from the various clubs that participated in the project. The clubs who took part in the project are as follows: Interact Club of Zamboanga City, Rotaract Club of Zambonga City East, Rotaract Club of Zamboanga City West, Rotaract Club of Zamboanga City North, Rotaract Club of Universidad de Zamboanga, Rotaract Club of Southern City Colleges, and Rotaract Club of Western Mindanao State University.
