Ever since the lockdown happened, almost everything is being done remotely. Classrooms became a part of the house and offices turned into software. Everything is being done in our comfortable boxes called ‘home’. However, although it saves us from the danger of COVID-19, as well as the always-tiring heavy traffic, it makes us vulnerable to procrastination more than ever. Luckily here are some hacks from Rotaractors and Rotarians to make your life RAC and easy!
Space of Peace
Focus is an important factor that helps us study or work whether at the office or at home. It is the gateway to all thinking without it your output will surely suffer or there might be no output at all. Creating a workspace can help us ensure that we are free from distractions. It can be inside your bedroom or a spare room in the house.
Plan ahead
Planning prepares you for upcoming tasks and events. It also allows your club to decide what is the best date for your activity and makes you aware of school deadlines. You can either buy a planner, use a calendar, or use an application from your phone or on your computer. Personally, I use an app that will allow me to set a reminder 3 – 5 days before the event. With planning and the right habit of checking your schedule will save you from unforeseen circumstances.
Share your schedule
The first two tips wouldn’t be much effective if your space of peace will be invaded by inquiries from your family, friends, and organization. To prevent them from knocking on your door and appearing on your notification it would be much helpful to share your schedule with them. This will prevent you from being distracted by them and ace that task you are doing, which brings me to the next tip.
Finish those easy tasks first
Baby steps lead to greater productivity. By finishing easy tasks we are able to build up momentum which allows us to enter the flow state. By entering into the flow state we are much more focused, engaging, creative and our performance will improve – giving us a better mood that will help us finish the toughest task in your planner.
Avoid backlogs
Honesty is the best policy but punctuality is godliness? To avoid backlogs and disruption of your schedule and planning, be punctual. Baby steps and punctuality go together in the same pot. In order to make baby steps effective you will have to strictly stick to your schedule otherwise backlogs will eat up that free time that you planned to spend with your members or friends or even video games.
Use productivity tools
In the time of pandemic productivity software will help you get through tasks easily and organized because it allows you to do some of the tips I mentioned above. Personally, I use Notion for project management and checklist while for research in creating articles I use Remnote. As for organizational meetings and conversation I primarily use Zoom, Discord, and Microsoft Teams – for the student government.
Don’t skip meals
Eating is important as food serves as fuel to our bodies. By eating, we increase energy and alertness, allowing us to focus and do more. Scientific studies show that fruits and vegetables make people happy, and when you are happy you can do that task easily.
Drink plenty of water
We live in a tropical country and the summer season is already at our doors. Drinking water though may seem out of place among these tips but it saves you from dehydration which makes your productivity decrease by 12%, so drink your water.
Keep yourself motivated
Motivation is an important factor to continue. It helps you enjoy your organization, assignments and work. Without it everything will be hard to do despite the tips given above. Some experts say that motivation is a key to achieving a goal, but others say motivation is a product of a goal that allows you to continue to the next goal. As for me I get more motivated as I see my club is thriving, what about you?
