On April 27, 2025, the Rotaract Club of Lucena South carried out Project Kalinga through a meaningful outreach visit to Sinag Kalinga in Lucban, Quezon. The initiative was part of the club’s continuing commitment to community service and compassionate engagement, particularly for vulnerable sectors such as the elderly.

The day began with a comprehensive orientation facilitated by the facility’s administrators. Members were introduced to the home’s mission, daily operations, and the dedicated care provided to its 25 elderly residents. The orientation allowed the Rotaractors to better understand the physical, emotional, and social needs of the residents, as well as the challenges faced by caregiving institutions that rely largely on donations and community support.

Following the orientation, the club formally turned over a variety of donated items gathered through collective effort and generosity. These included cleaning supplies, hygiene kits, household essentials, and emergency materials intended to assist in the daily upkeep and overall well-being of the home. The turnover symbolized not only material support but also solidarity with the caregivers and residents of Sinag Kalinga.

Beyond donations, the Rotaractors dedicated time to interact with the elderly residents. The club members performed songs, creating a lively and heartwarming atmosphere that encouraged participation and smiles among the elders. Simple conversations, shared laughter, and the distribution of snacks further strengthened the bond between volunteers and residents. The activity highlighted the importance of presence and human connection, reminding everyone that companionship can be just as valuable as tangible assistance.

After successfully completing the outreach program, the club proceeded to a brief fellowship side trip to Sampaloc, Quezon. The visit provided members an opportunity to unwind, reflect on the day’s impact, and strengthen camaraderie within the organization.
