PROJECT UGNAY: The Rotaract Way of Service Beyond Borders

By Deliza Mendigo Marbibi | Posted on May 5, 2026

In every community, there are needs that call for compassion and action. Rotaract has long answered that call by forming young leaders who believe in the power of service to shape a better world.

Guest speaker Stephen Leo Ferrera delivers his message on unity and collaboration.

From this spirit emerged Project Ugnay—an initiative of the Rotaract Club of Tacloban that reflects the belief that meaningful service must extend beyond boundaries.

The word ugnay means connection—a fitting description of the initiative’s purpose. It emphasizes unity, collaboration, and shared responsibility across communities.

Members meet during ProCon 2026 in Iloilo for the first time.

Launched on September 10, 2025, during a joint meeting with the Rotaract Club of Sta. Mesa, the initiative promotes partnerships among clubs. Guest speaker Stephen Leo Ferrera, Chairperson of Pilipinas Rotaract MDIO, emphasized the importance of unity in creating impact.

Twenty clubs collaborate for a 4-in-1 service project during ProCon 2026.

Through collaboration, clubs exchange ideas, support advocacies, and expand successful projects into new communities.

Project Ugnay embodies “Service Above Self” by encouraging Rotaractors to think beyond local boundaries and act as part of a global movement.

Through partnerships, initiatives gain momentum, and impact becomes wider and more sustainable.

Project Ugnay reminds us that service becomes stronger when people work together—proving that connection is at the heart of meaningful change.
