Bacolod goes DIGITAL: Empowering the Next Generation of Career Leaders

For many senior high school students in Bacolod, the question is no longer “What’s next?”—but “Where do I begin?”

Answers began to take shape on March 2–3, 2026, as the Bacolod Digital Skills and Careers Fest transformed the SMX Convention Center Bacolod into a dynamic hub of ideas, opportunities, and possibilities. Designed to guide young minds in making informed career decisions, the two-day gathering brought together educators, industry leaders, government representatives, and professionals across eight key sectors.

From IT-BPM and healthcare to entrepreneurship, agriculture, engineering, public service, creative industries, and education, the festival opened doors to pathways often left unexplored. Through candid discussions, mentorship sessions, and industry talks, students were given more than just information—they were given a voice. Here, they asked real questions about life after senior high school and discovered that their futures need not follow a single path, but can branch into employment, higher education, freelancing, or entrepreneurship.

Rather than providing ready-made answers, the event focused on helping students discover their own direction. By encouraging reflection on their interests, strengths, and aspirations, the festival created a meaningful space where young people could gain confidence and clarity about the paths they wish to pursue.

The Rotaract Club of Metro Bacolod was proud to support this initiative, contributing to the event’s mission of empowering the next generation of professionals in Bacolod. In collaboration with Snackee Bacolod, the club also helped provide and sponsor lunches for participants, ensuring that students and volunteers could fully engage in the learning experience throughout the day.

As conversations ended and booths slowly emptied, what remained was not just information, but inspiration. Because in a rapidly evolving digital world, initiatives like this do more than guide careers—they ignite purpose. And for the students who walked through its doors, the future no longer feels distant, but within reach—waiting to be shaped, one bold decision at a time.
