Power of Love 2026: Small Hours We Remember for a Lifetime

CEBU, Philippines – On a cool Saturday morning, January 24, members of the Rotaract Club of Cebu Fuente gathered with purpose. A two-hour journey across the island awaited them—but the destination made every mile worthwhile. At the Hospicio de San Jose de Barili, lolos and lolas were waiting for the annual Power of Love 2026 outreach.

Leading the initiative were Game Changer President Ella and Niño Javier. Also present were DRR Jacob, PP/DCOS JN, PIC Erm, SPC Gerald, PP PJ, PP Annzinne, PDRR Shevee, and PDRR Jan, along with a dedicated team of Rotaractors and aspirants united in service.

Even after months of relief efforts following the natural disasters that struck Cebu in 2025, members eagerly volunteered their time to bring food, care packages, and companionship to the elderly residents. Calls for volunteers began as early as January 2 and quickly formed a team of twenty ready to serve.

The mission was strengthened by the support of the 53rd Engineering Brigade of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), which provided additional manpower and transportation. Together, they delivered food and care packages containing toiletries, blankets, and snacks for the residents.

B.I.N.G.O., often dismissed as an ordinary game, brought extraordinary energy to the hospicio’s halls. The enthusiasm of both the elders and volunteers transformed the serene space into one filled with laughter, cheers, and excitement.

Beyond the festivities were quieter, more meaningful moments. Amid busy academic, professional, and personal lives, Rotaractors found time to sit, listen, and learn from the wisdom of the elders. One 74-year-old resident, Lola Rebecca, offered heartfelt prayers and life advice—encouraging volunteers to remain strong, healthy, and faithful.

Though the elders expressed gratitude for the gifts, the volunteers received something equally priceless: songs, laughter, warm smiles, and blessings. The strength and resilience of each lola and lolo stood as a testament to lives lived with courage and love.

Power of Love 2026 was more than an outreach—it was a reminder that even small hours of service can create memories cherished for a lifetime.
