The Rotaract and Rotary Clubs in Pakil recently achieved a historic milestone in community service through the successful implementation of “Project Isang Bigkis: United Care for Mothers, Children, and the Elderly.” Held on August 23, 2025, at the Barangay Casinsin Covered Court, this massive health caravan was anchored by the strong partnership between President Ronald Salvador of the Rotary Club of Pakil and his counterpart, President Tristan Jenesis Arbues of the Rotaract Club of Pakil Baybay Premier. Together, they led a unified force of volunteers in delivering critical medical and wellness services to more than 500 residents in Eastern Laguna.
The collaboration served as a masterclass in regional cooperation, with the host clubs in Pakil acting as anchors for a coalition of nearly 40 partner organizations. This “Isang Bigkis” (One Bond) spirit enabled the mission to offer an unprecedented range of services, including dental checkups, minor surgeries performed by Dr. Jun Malibiran, and specialized assessments for cataract operations and prosthetic leg assistance.

Beyond clinical care, the event emphasized the holistic dignity of its beneficiaries. One of the standout features was the Foot Spa Wellness Station, where the Rotaract Club of Pakil Baybay Premier, under the leadership of President Arbues, joined forces with the Rotaract Club of Batangas Business Class to provide comfort, relaxation, and care to elderly residents and hardworking mothers in the community.
The logistical success of the caravan was driven by the strategic involvement of various Rotaract chapters that managed the flow of services with precision. The Rotaract Club of Metro Lucena, Rotaract Club of Pagsanjan, and the Rotaract Club of Maryhill College took on the essential responsibility of distributing hygiene kits and assisting patients directly, ensuring that every beneficiary felt guided and supported throughout the day. Simultaneously, the Rotaract Club of Sta. Cruz Pioneer worked hand in hand with senior Rotary clubs to manage the medicine distribution station, ensuring accurate and efficient dispensing of prescribed medications and vitamins.

Specialized medical partnerships further elevated the mission’s impact. The Rotary Club of Pila West brought its “Eye Care for You” program to Pakil in collaboration with the Lyceum of the Philippines University–St. Cabrini College of Optometry, providing professional vision screenings. Meanwhile, the Rotary Club of Uptown Sta. Rosa contributed dermatological services through its warts removal station. These interventions, paired with youth-led assistance, ensured a seamless healthcare experience that addressed both immediate medical needs and long-term wellness.

At the heart of the project was the powerful synergy between the wisdom of seasoned Rotarians and the vibrant energy of the youth. President Ronald Salvador expressed his deepest gratitude to President Tristan Jenesis Arbues and all the “Heartworking Presidents,” emphasizing that their shared dedication was the driving force behind the project’s success. He highlighted that Project Isang Bigkis was envisioned not merely as a one-day clinic, but as a catalyst to inspire sustained community service.

By prioritizing preventive healthcare, patient assistance, and health education, the Rotaract and Rotary Clubs ensured that the impact of the caravan would extend far beyond the event itself. Ultimately, the collaboration stands as a beacon of hope and a call to action—demonstrating that when Rotary generations unite, there is no limit to the help and hope they can provide. As the clubs move forward, they remain committed to their shared mission to “Unite for Good,” continuously striving to uplift the quality of life in Pakil and beyond.
