In August 2025, on the 2nd and 9th, the Rotaract Club of Holy Spirit successfully hosted RACBay-Aral: Expanded Peer Tutoring (Quantitative Research). The project was conducted online via Microsoft Teams and Google Meet, in collaboration with the Interact Club of Holy Spirit National High School.

This initiative was designed to help senior high school student researchers by connecting them with experienced research consultants from RAC Holy Spirit. The program’s mission is to guide students in fully understanding their projects with the support of consultants from various industry backgrounds, including HSNHS alumni, Rotaractors, and peers. Tutoring was delivered through personalized, one-on-one consultation sessions lasting at least an hour, allowing students to receive feedback directly tailored to their specific topics.

The first session of Expanded Peer Tutoring took place on August 2, 2025, via MS Teams and Google Meet. During this session, 15 consultants worked with 13 research groups—about 119 students in total—across the ABM, ICT, STEM, and HUMSS strands. The first session was a huge success; students gained valuable insights and were able to revise their papers, ensuring their work was relevant and well-aligned with their field of study as they prepared for their preliminary research defenses. As a bonus for their hard work, five lucky groups won a ream of bond paper each, thanks to the generosity of sponsors: RACHS Auditor John Michael H. Furton, SPD Ella Marie A. Parungao, Rtr. Gersie Marie Espiritu, and Martin Phil Ayeng.

The second session, a follow-up, was held on August 9, 2025, via Google Meet. In this session, 16 consultants worked with 10 groups—about 90 students—from the same strands. The main purpose was to conduct mock defenses to prepare students for their actual opening defense. The impact of this session was significant, with students emphasizing the value of consistent support. The mock defenses allowed them to practice, build confidence, and demonstrate the substantial progress they had made.

The Expanded Peer Tutoring program is not new; it already has a history of success. It was first launched during the 2023–2024 Rotary Year under the leadership of then-RACHS President Monique Palmiano and then-IACHSNHS President Marc Arthur Clarete. That year, four successful consultation sessions were held, proving the project’s long-term value in supporting young researchers. For this upcoming Rotary Year, however, RAC Holy Spirit aims to double the number of consultation sessions from the previous run, ensuring consistent and thorough support for research that can make a meaningful difference in the community.
